Friday Focus: Montessori School Fair / Monster Truck Spectacular

February 20, 2009

Happy Friday, Nashville! If you're considering Montessori education for your child or just want to learn more about the method, stop by Belmont University Saturday for the Montessori School Fair and Peace in Education event. The event takes place from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, the 21st of February. Fourteen local Montessori schools (I didn't realize there were so many around here) will be represented.

Belmont University is a fitting location for this event. The school offers a Montessori teacher certification program. The Montessori method is a fascinating educational philosophy, and I encourage you to go learn more about it this weekend.

On a totally unrelated note, Amp Tour's Thunder Slam Monster Truck Spectacular will also be in town on Saturday. If you have a preschooler who can't get enough of Bigfoot or other big, fast, tough trucks, Municipal Auditorium is the place to be Saturday night. I am not a monster truck fan personally, but this sounds like the perfect opportunity for dads to spend a little time with their truck-loving sons and daughters. And maybe the perfect opportunity for moms to have a Saturday night to themselves.

Have a great weekend! Starting next week I'll be replacing Friday Focus with a Thursday roundup of upcoming events. If you have a suggested event or activity, please comment here or email me at beingsavvynashville@savvysource.com .
